What a privilege and honor to finally be at the famous Casa de Ciclistas in Trujillo! For something like 25 years, Lucho has been opening his home to cyclists and there is a long legacy of hospitality here.
There are a few “musts” a cycling tourist simply has to do. When you pass through Missoula, Montana, you absolutely have to go to the Adventure Cycling office and have your picture taken and eat ice cream. In Trujillo, you have to stay at Lucho’s. It’s just the way it is.
So when we arrived yesterday, we headed straight for the house and fell in among a bunch of other cyclists. It was wonderful to be able to talk with cyclists after so long of not seeing any!
Unfortunately, the house is pretty full and we are a lot of people so we opted to move over to a hotel today. Even so – we’ll be spending a fair amount of time at the Casa de Ciclistas over the next few days!

With Lucho at the Casa de Ciclistas.

Thanks for the nice words! We’re just gearing up for the 2010 season and can’t wait to meet all the cyclists passing this way. Safe travels!
